I love gnocchi, but I was finding it hard to find gnocchi here that didn’t contain egg or suspicious e-numbers. So I was super excited when the awesome folks over at Gewoon Vegan posted that Albert Heijn had confirmed that their home-brand gnocchi are vegan!
Like spaetzle, gnocchi is a satisfying, dumpling-like pasta, but based on potato rather than wheat flour. (They do contain wheat flour, but the main ingredient is potato.) They boil up very quickly, and work really well with both creamy and tomato-based sauces. I like them with pesto and broccoli. They’re wonderfully hearty and make a nice warming meal on a cold evening.
Not surprisingly, as these are the Albert Heijn house brand, that’s where you’ll find these.
