Although there are plenty of vegan options to have on bread, from hummus and peanut butter to Tartex and Wilmersburger, sometimes it’s nice to have something cold-cut like to put between your slices. These Cheatin’ slices from the UK-based VBites company are some of my favorite vegan cold-cuts. Compared to some tofu-based cold cuts, these have a softer bite that I find really pleasant, and they’re flavored in a way that they’re reminiscent of the meats they’re styled after, but not so much that it’s eerie.
They’re great on their own, with mayo and ketchup, grilled into a grilled cheese sandwich, or as a layer in a vegan club sandwich.
I bought this particular batch at Boutique Vegan, but I’ve also seen them at vegan specialty stores and health food stores.
